Privacy Policy
This policy covers the ScanSmart app for Android and iOS, published by t-apps (package com.rubicon.scan_qr_code). It explains what the app keeps on your device, what it sends to our service providers, and the choices you have.
The short version
- The codes you scan never leave your device. Camera frames, photos you pick, and your scan history are processed and stored locally.
- There is no account. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and we do not create a profile of you.
- What does leave the device: anonymous usage statistics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, and your subscription status.
1. Data that stays on your device
None of the following is uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- Camera images. The camera preview is analysed on your device to detect codes. Frames are not saved and not transmitted.
- Photos you choose. If you read a code from a picture in your gallery, that picture is decoded on your device only.
- Scan and create history. The codes you scan and the codes you generate are stored in the app's local storage. Swipe an entry in History to delete it. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
- QR images you save. When you save a generated code, it is written to your own photo gallery at your request.
- Wi-Fi details. If you scan a Wi-Fi code, the network name and password are used only to offer a connection on your device.
The app does not ask for location permission and does not read your device location.
2. Data we and our providers collect
- Purchase history. Your subscription status, the product purchased, and the transaction state, so the ad-free subscription can be unlocked and restored. Collected through RevenueCat together with Google Play Billing or the Apple App Store.
- App interactions. Automatic events only, such as screens opened, sessions, and app launches. We do not send custom events and we do not log the content of any code. Collected through Google Analytics for Firebase.
- Crash logs and diagnostics. Stack traces, device model, operating system version, and app version when the app crashes. Collected through Firebase Crashlytics.
- Advertising and device identifiers. Your advertising identifier, a Firebase installation identifier, and an anonymous RevenueCat app user identifier. Used to serve and measure ads and to keep usage statistics consistent.
- Approximate location. Google AdMob may infer a coarse location from your IP address in order to deliver ads. This is the only sense in which location is involved, and it does not come from your device's location services.
3. Why we collect it
- App functionality. Unlocking and restoring your subscription.
- Analytics. Understanding which features are used so we can improve the app, and fixing crashes.
- Advertising. Showing and measuring ads in the free version of the app.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles ourselves.
4. Service providers
The data above is shared with the following providers, each acting under its own privacy policy.
- Google AdMob, for advertising. How Google uses advertising data
- Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, for usage statistics and crash reporting. Firebase privacy and security
- RevenueCat, for subscription management. RevenueCat privacy policy
- Google Play and the Apple App Store, which process the payment itself. We never receive your card number or bank details.
5. Advertising and your choices
The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, which may be personalised using your advertising identifier. Subscribing removes all ads.
- On Android, open Settings, then Google, then Ads, to reset or delete your advertising ID or to turn off ad personalisation.
- On iOS, the app asks for tracking permission. If you do not allow tracking, your advertising identifier is not used for personalised ads. You can change this at any time in Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
6. Children
ScanSmart is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will remove it.
7. Keeping and deleting data
- On your device. Delete individual history entries in the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything at once.
- Usage statistics and crash reports. Retained by Google under the retention period set for the project, then deleted automatically.
- Subscription records. Kept by RevenueCat and by the app store for as long as needed to manage billing, renewals, and restores.
- Requesting deletion. Email us and we will delete the records linked to your purchase within 30 days. Because the app has no account, please include the store receipt or the email address used for the purchase so we can find them.
8. Security
All data described in this policy is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security.
9. Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy, or about your data, can be sent to turgut.sonmez@t-apps.io.
